Curriculum vitæ

My name is Julia Mariette, and I am a postdoctoral researcher specializing in neuroethology, with a particular focus on communication in insects. My research journey began with several internships investigating social communication in two species of social birds—the zebra finch and the callopsittine parakeet—as well as exploring aversive learning in honey bees. These early experiences ignited my interest in the neuroethology of communication, which led me to pursue a PhD at the EGCE (Evolution, Genomes, Behaviour, Ecology) laboratory. During my doctoral studies, I investigated the olfactory receptors involved in sexual communication in Apis bees, under the mentorship of Jean-Christophe Sandoz and Frédéric Marion-Poll. I further expanded my PhD research within Julie Carcaud's team, working on the Pherobrain ANR project, where I studied the neural mechanisms underlying social communication in honey bees.
